*drum roll plz*
ok...here are the responses (in order of receipt) to the (as ive been told a couple times) kick ass poll ? i asked...thx 2 the 6(grrrrrr) of you that responded.....
thadd wrote: k, the thre most important songs in my life
1.) beethoven's 9th symphony--if you ever seen imortal beloved, that movie makes me misty eyed. but the songs is chaotic and harmoneous? at the same time. something bout shit like that fits me
2.) i play them together always, so i'll make them #2 even though its two songs korn's ball tongue and helmet in the bush its amazing how heavy music up really loud cures all my headaches
3.) the first song i heard january sing to me. she was really shy when she sang it, she thinks she dont sing good. and she also told me once that she would never sing ever ever. She sang it in a really low voice, but i will never forget the song or the way i felt when she trusted me enough to let me hear that. .
and here's what rosiG had to say: Hmmm 3 eh?
ok here goes
(1) "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" - James Taylor: This is the first song David ever sang to me. The very first time he sang this to me was in his room curled up on the floor. Shortly thereafter he announced to me that he was head over heels for me and hoped he wouldn't screw things up. Hehehe that was 10 years ago this month (Yes I remember the date and everything don't gimme funny looks. *Smile*)
(2) "You and I" - Eddie Rabbit & Crystal Gayle: We sang this to each other on our wedding day. In between the crying and giggling we sang (or shall I say he sang) this song right after we lit our unity candle. So everytime I hear this song I just smile and remember how incredibly happy I was on that day.
(3) "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" - Georgia Satellites: Ok this one also involves David but moreso our friend Eric who died in January. Eric and David would sing this song everytime I walked into the bar where they worked. Everytime I get sad I put this song on and I can hear Eric singing. It just reminds me that Eric is still with me saying to have fun and not be sad. Hehehehe I also got to kiss Eric before I got to kiss David. Long story. But he will always be with me and everytime I think of him I hear this song.
I have a lot of songs that have had an impact on me so picking 3 was hard.
*Hugs*~~~~Rosi
and meanwhile, in another part of cyber space, here's what Lizzie thought: Hey Baby!
Thought I'd answer your poll! The most important songs in my life are:
1)Throw It All Away by Toad The Wet Sprocket on the Coil CD. This song makes me think of change, what could have been if I did something differnt, and maybe it's not to late to chage things in my life. The best part of the song is 'Tear up the calender you bought and throw the pieces to the sky confetti falling down like rain'. I like to think it means time doesn't matter. To be free and just take the days as they roll by, wouldn't that be great?
2) My second song would have to be You're A God By Vertical Horizon on the Everything You Want CD. The first time I heard this song it made me want to cry. I've got some emotional connection with these guys. When I saw them in concert it blew me away. I felt every word that they sang. It was a very emotional concert for me. Was the first time I ever felt the music on that level. It was awsome.
3) Red House Painters their whole CD Songs For A Blue Guitar. This whole CD makes me mooshy. It's all acoustic so you know its great. Not really any of the songs stand out they all make me feel relaxed, and I feel the words from these songs too. So I know I'd love them in concert.
Mwah!
Lizzie
and heres what hasta be the most forced response of the poll fromthe cutest respondant: 3 important songs...uh...
a live medley by rush - 2112 overture/la villa strangiato/in the mood...cuz it's my favorite song...you've heard it in the car many times dear =)
iron maiden - wasted years...best guitar solo ever
megadeth - a secret place...i heard this song on the radio on the way to pick you up from the airport when you came up here, everytime i hear it i think of how excited and terrified i was on that day lol
and onto heatha's response: ok psy this was hard! i enjoyed it tho
this is a great poll question psy you rock *pinches cheeks*. this kind of
question requirees a lot of thought for me. here goes:
wide open spaces- dixie chicks: this song completely touches me. when i moved
out of my parents house, this song was starting to be popular. the song, if
you've ever listened to it is about finding and fulfilling dreams. my family
and i are really rather close and it really made me miss being home and
having them there all the time. the part that especially touches me is the
part where she says ' as her folks drive away her dad yells check the oil,
her stares out the window and says 'i'm losin my girl and it didn't seem like
i left long ago'. everytime i heard that song for almost a year i bawled my
eyes out. heh my dad always tells me to check my oil. i never cared much for
the dixie chicks until that song, now i really like them a lot.
I'd die without you-p.m. dawn- this song pretty much sums up my middle school
years. feelings i had and such. hell the same thing's true today,9 years
later.i feel the same way about it now as i did then, every feelin is the
same the song still makes me drop everything and pay full attention to it.
omfg 9 years heh, that proves some music is timeless. this one is so hard to
explain for me, and i don't know why. just listen to it i guess.
brickhouse- the commadores- oh yes!!!!!! this is my all time favorite bar
jam! how can you not want to dance hearin this song? my friends and i always
play/request it like 4589764530687 times. i can never get sick of hearing it.
this is the ultimate socializing song. i don't remember a time i ever did NOT
know this song, my parents must have listened to it when i was little or
something. i always think about having good times and hangin out with people
i care about when i hear this.
and finally, here's erik's thoughts on the subject: kathy,
kick ass question. u know how into music i am and it was a bitch to narrow it down to just three, but here they are in chronological order.
my 3 most important songs:
"band on the run" by paul mccartney & wings. i was like fucking nutso over this song was i was little. it was my first 45. i can still sing it word for word.
"eternal flame" by the bangles. yah, it's way pussified, but it was our wedding song. we had this girl sing it in the church and then we danced to another version later at the reception. that fucker still gives me the chills. like a death march.
"creep" by radiohead. this song sums up my whole life from junior high on. i won't delve into long-winded explanations, other than to say it's easily the best song of the 90's .. one i find myself singing to at the top of my lungs. which prolly makes me look like a complete asshole to the person in the car next to me, but i still dig that tune. -cp
I hope ya'll had as much fun answerin it as i did readin yer answers...thx =)
